Camp Tejas

Camp Tejas is like a lot of the other camps we serve, with an additional event which is not so common,  the “Lights of Tejas”(LOT).     The LOT is a celebration of the Birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.   The camp puts up lights like you would not believe, in excess of a million of them, all around the camp.  The “high” light of the celebration is the scripture narration (from creation to the resurrection) set to music and lights around a lake.

Our duties where different this month than they are at most camps.   We helped served the near 10,000(ten thousand) quests that attended the festival over about 20 (twenty) nights of the show.  We all (Sowers) were cross trained on almost all the jobs to be done.

Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what we were doing to help.

Robin’s job on most nights was to drive the tractor for the hayride. Jenny and Don R provided Robin with breaks.

Anita and Jenny worked the climbing wall and the zip line, both places where “hot spots” and really busy.

The Tunnel of Lights was at least 300 feet long. All the guests walked through here as the start of the LOT. Very impressive!!

Again, we are blessed to serve the people and places that present the Gospel of Jesus.
