Samaritan Center for Boys and Families 01/09-1

What a ministry they have here at Samaritan Home for Boys and Families in Stuart, FL.  www.samaritanhouseforboys.com  Jesus Christ is in the center of all activities.  The boys are on a point system where they learn the consequences of their actions, both the positive and the negative.  The feed back from the teaching staff and the house parents to the boys is immediate and direct.  The parents of the boys receive counseling and direction each week when the bring the boys here, on Wednesday nights and again on Fridays when they pick up the boys.

We have the chance to interface with the boys when they have free time.  They like to come by to see how and what we are doing and help when they can.

Doreen, Judy and Jenny are deep cleaning the boys’ residences.

We made it to Florida for our SOWERs 2009 season!

Just a quick update on our journey from Minnesota to Flordia and our work project so far.

We traveled a total of 2156 miles to our 1st work project at Stuart, Fl., the Samaritan Center for Boys.

It is really a blessing to interact with the boys here. There are 11 boys form 6-12 years old that live here, divided up into 2 houses. They live here M-F, then go to their homes over the weekend and return on Monday morning. This is an early intervention ministry that takes “troubled” boys and teaches them to modify their aggressive and manipulative behavior to function as loving, Godly men. The prayer is that these boys will learn to live in their families and schools so they don’t find themselves in the JD legal system later. The boys come to our motor homes each day and talk and show us their toys and how well they can climb a tree etc. They really are looking for loving attention.

More soon.
